People in China’s Sichuan province found the world’s largest aquatic insect, which has large, scary pincers.

According to CNN, the Insect Museum of West China said several villagers turned in these “weird insects that resemble giant dragonflies with long teeth.” The terrifying bugs were examined by the museum, and it found that they there were unusually large specimen of the dobsonfly.

The largest among those found in China measured 21 centimeters with wings opened, which beat the old largest record of a South American helicopter damselfly that measured 19.1 centimeters. The museum said it was big enough to cover a human adult’s face.

This insect is very sensitive to water quality, so it only lives in bodies of clean water. Even with only a little contamination, the insect will find another home. The dobsonfly can be also found in other areas of China, India’s Assam state and northern Vietnam, but those specimens are not as large.
