ConnecTV, a social television experience app, will expand its features with its recent acquisition of TweetTV, a TV guidance startup based on analytics. TweetTV helps viewers pinpoint exactly what and who is trending on TV in real time.
ConnecTV will implement TweetTV’s abilities on its own TV video network in addition to a free mobile app that allows users to watch, clip and share things that happen on TV, like an epic fight or a musical performance. The intention is for users to have an easy time discovering and watching shows that are the top of the heap in regards to social media and trending.
Users will be able to filter TV programs by show, actor, genre, keyword and hash tag. They can connect that information to TV shows and then clip and share those cuts on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
TweetTV founder Bradley Markham added, “TweetTV is built for business partners—our suite of tools can be plugged into any connected TV platform, app or website to provide a powerful, socially-driven layer of intelligence and presentation,” according to Multi Channel News.
In related news, Twitter has recently acquired Snappy TV, which is a startup that uses a cloud-based platform to help broadcasters and programmers share video clips through the Internet in nearly real time. SnappyTV features a long list of suite tools that allow companies to share, edit and archive both live video and TV programming within the cloud. An organization can quickly create an ad, distribute it on a massive scale and accurately measure its impact via social media channels. Primetime events, conferences and breaking news will be hot spots for video publishers to spread their messages and ads through SnappyTV.
