Allison Ettel, dubbed as #PermitPatty on Twitter, has stepped down as CEO of a Cannabis Company in California. The social media villain became famous last Saturday when Erin Austin posted a video of Ettel calling the cops on her daughter Jordan for selling bottled water on a hot summer day. Jordan was raising money to go to Disneyland in response to her mother losing her job. The video immediately went viral, amounting to over a million views.

In an interview with CNN, Ettel explained her role in the viral video:

“I did call the police, but not on anybody. I said I’d like to talk with someone about if something is legal or not. I said I am not doing a report, and I am not asking for any dispatch. I just want information. I asked, is this legal? She said no.”

People on twitter have been absolutely destroying Ettel. One person tweeted “I am tired of worrying some #PermitPatty will call the police on my child and she may not come home!”. Another tweeted, “They want police to kill us. The girl was causing no harm. They know what happens when they call the police. This is evil”. Many think that this incident was racially charged, involving a white woman calling the police on a black family.

TreatWell is a company that sells THC oils throughout areas in California. Cynthia Gonzalez, the firm’s spokeswoman, reported on Tuesday that Ettel stepped down as CEO of the cannabis distributor.

    Gonzalez issued the following statement:

“This decision, while not an easy one, is in the best interest of their patients. It is Ms. Ettel’s belief that TreatWell, its employees, and patients should not have to suffer because of a situation that occurred in an escalated moment. And she regrets her part and is remorseful”

It has also been reported that at least 6 companies are taking TreatWell products off of their shelves. One dispensary in San Francisco stated “we had pulled [TreatWell’s] product line as soon as we saw the video. We do not support that type of behavior!” said a manager of one San Francisco dispensary”.

Robert Ruecam, the spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department, stated that no further complaints were filed regarding the incident.

Following the videos fame, Jordan found out that she, in fact, will be going to Disneyland, despite the harsh interference with her water bottle business.
