Florida-Based Company ‘College Hunks Hauling Junk’ Makes Moving Less Stressful

Moving company, College Hunks Hauling Junk, is headquartered in Tampa Florida and has been posting strong numbers since their appearance on Shark Tank. The company started in 2003 when founders Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman were attending the University of Miami. They are running the business out of a 10,000-square foot building in Ybor City Tampa.

The company focuses on two moving strategies, decluttering homes and moving customers from point A to point B. They have a strong company presence on Angie’s list, a home services website that has seen huge growth since it started in 1995. Colege Hunks Hauling junk has 80 franchises across the United States and continues to push for growth.

Omar Soliman, the Chief Executive Officer of the company stated the following:

“My parents were obviously a little bit hesitant when we said we’re going to quit our full-time jobs to basically become full-time trash men. We were taking a major gamble and starting and starting a business in a very blue-collar industry. It’s not being a doctor or a lawyer.”

Nick Friedman, the president of College Hunks Hauling Junk, stated the following:

“Our purpose is really to move the world and it kind of has a double meaning because we’re a moving and hauling business but so literally we want to move people but more importantly emotionally we have an opportunity to make a difference, make an impact in peoples lives.”

The company appeared on the first episode of the first season of Shark Tank and “that put us on the map” says Soliman. But, their success didn’t start then. They started the company while in college and knew they had something special when they won a business contest. The grand prize was $10,000. Both Soliman and Friedman have been friends since age 15 and have a close relationship. “Nick is very OCD,” says Soliman. “The most annoying thing about Omar, I describe him as a jellyfish in terms of he kind of just likes to flow with the current,” says Friedman. The two complement each other in business.
