Ocado Retail, a joint venture between Ocado Group (OCDO.L) and Marks & Spencer (MKS.L), said Tuesday that its Hatfield customer fulfillment facility would cease this summer.

Retailers are using robotic customer fulfillment hubs.

Ocado said it expected no order volume impact due to Hatfield’s outage and will move client orders to its other UK sites.

Hatfield, Ocado’s oldest factory, employs 2,300. The business said it was working with them to relocate as many as possible to other sites, including the soon-to-open Luton branch.

Ocado expects the new technology to enhance production and same-day delivery.
