On Tuesday, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated the nation supports industrial applications of generative artificial intelligence technology like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Kishida visited the CEO of Microsoft (MSFT.O)-backed OpenAI in Tokyo earlier this month and said the Group of Seven conferences in Hiroshima next month would discuss “international rules” on generative AI.

As national and international governments regulate AI tools, rapid improvements in AI technologies are making it harder for governments to agree on regulations.
