The Financial Times reported Thursday that Vodafone (VOD.L) and CK Hutchison (0001.HK) are close to combining their UK telecoms companies for 15 billion pounds (nearly $19 billion), creating the country’s largest mobile provider.
The FT said that three sources valued the merged group’s equity at 9 billion pounds and its debt at 6 billion pounds.
The article indicated the deal will be revealed this month.
The report said that Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison might leave the UK telecoms sector with the merger. However, no agreement has been reached and circumstances may change.
