On Monday, Volvo Group (VOLVb. S.T.) announced that Volvo Vehicles would supply 1,000 electric vehicles to Swiss building solutions provider Holcim (HOLN.S), the largest order for Volvo electric trucks over the next seven years.
“The deal is the largest commercial order to date for Volvo electric trucks,” said A.B. Volvo, which also offers Mack, Renault, and U.D. Trucks.
The first 130 large electric Volvo F.H. and Volvo FM trucks will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2023 and throughout 2024.
The corporation didn’t disclose the order’s value.
Volvo emailed Holcim to ascertain the remaining truck delivery speed.
The first 1,000 trucks will be shipped to France, Germany, Switzerland, and Britain to deploy throughout Holcim’s European operations.
Volvo Trucks, which expects to sell 50% electric trucks by 2030, has witnessed increased orders for electric trucks in recent quarters as companies work to fulfill zero-emission standards.
Volvo Trucks has started ramping up production at three sites in Sweden, France, and the U.S. and intends to start production in Belgium in the third quarter of 2023 as demand rises.
All Holcim order trucks would be BEVs, the business claimed.
Like other truck manufacturers, Volvo is developing hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles for the second half of this decade.
