Tony Tang, BlackRock Inc.’s (BLK.N) head of China business, leaves the asset manager after helping build its operations in the world’s second-largest economy.
The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, told Reuters Tang “has expressed an interest in exploring opportunities” outside the organization.
According to BlackRock, Susan Chan, its deputy head of Asia Pacific and head of Greater China, directly oversees its China onshore business.
Tang, a former Chinese securities regulatory officer, became BlackRock’s China business chief in 2019 and has been one of CEO Larry Fink’s senior aides.
Tang didn’t immediately respond to Reuters.
As China head, BlackRock launched a wholly-owned China fund management arm and a joint venture with China Construction Bank and Temasek to provide wealth services to Chinese investors.
