“Following the UK’s accession, as more economies express interest in joining, Canada welcomes Ukraine’s application to join CPTPP,” tweeted Ng.
Ukraine wants to join the 11-nation trans-Pacific trade pact to increase commerce and foreign direct investment. Kyiv says expanding business relations is vital to fighting Russian aggression.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy formed a delegation by Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko to negotiate Ukraine’s CPTPP membership in May.

The trade pact, which includes Australia and Japan, accepted Britain in March.
