On Friday, New York-based Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton hired London private equity partner Edward Aldred.

Aldred spent his entire two-decade career at Linklaters, co-heading its financial sponsor leveraged finance practice.

Cleary managing partner Michael Gerstenzang said Aldred would assist in funding public and private M&As.

Linklaters wished Aldred well.

Aldred is Cleary’s third London hire. In January, Travers Smith’s private equity head Ian Shawyer joined.

Cleary hired Linklaters corporate finance partner Nicholas Rumsby in November.
