A network breach occurred two months ago, and Okta (OKTA.O) announced on Tuesday that hackers obtained information on all users of its customer support system. All of the information was stolen.
The firm, which is located in San Francisco, informed its customers that it has established that hackers downloaded a report that contained data, including the names and email addresses of all of its customers who use its customer support system, according to a statement that the company sent to Reuters via email.
Okta’s stock experienced a significant decline in October when the business disclosed that the breach had enabled select hackers to examine data that specific customers uploaded.
“While we do not have direct knowledge or evidence that this information is being actively exploited, we have notified all our customers that this file is an increased security risk of phishing and social engineering,” according to Okta.
Okta offers identity services to its clients, including OpenAI, which Microsoft supports. These services include single sign-on and multi-factor authentication, which are designed to ensure the safety of logins for online apps and websites.
