On Monday, Xiaomi Corp. (1810. HK) announced cooperation with Optiemus to develop wireless audio products in India.

Xiaomi India stated it would produce its first local audio device at Optiemus Electronics’ factory in Uttar Pradesh, repeating its goal of a 50% increase in locally sourced components by 2025.
Recently, Redmi, India’s leading smartphone maker, has lost out to Samsung (005930. KS).

“Committed to forging more such collaborations for a wider range of categories, across our product line-up,” the business did not reveal what audio product it would build in India.

Xiaomi, which makes most of its smartphones and TVs in India, did not indicate when it would start creating audio devices. India sells speakers, earbuds, and wired and wireless headphones.

The Indian government wants global corporations to invest in local manufacturing to become self-sufficient.
