YouTube Expands Pilot Program to Tackle AI-Generated Content Featuring Likeness of Creators and Public Figures
On Wednesday, YouTube unveiled an expansion of its pilot program aimed at identifying and managing AI-generated content that features the likeness of creators, artists, and other influential individuals. As part of this announcement, the platform also expressed its public support for the NO FAKES ACT, a legislative proposal designed to address issues surrounding AI-generated replicas of people’s images or voices. YouTube has been actively collaborating on the NO FAKES ACT with its sponsors, Senators Chris Coons (D-DE) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), as well as key industry stakeholders such as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA). The legislation will be reintroduced during a press conference led by Coons and Blackburn on the same day as the announcement.
