The set-top TV streaming market has become over run. From Apple TV to Chrome Cast to Ruku there seems to be a system that is perfect for everyone. And just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be any more options, Sony has just thrown their hat into the ring. The Japanese tech company announced at E3 that PlayStation TV will be coming to the U.S. and Canada this fall.
PlayStation TV is set to be released at $99, the same price that Apple sells its own unit at. But unlike Apple TV, the gaming giants new system will focus on gaming as video streaming takes a back seat. The unit is expected to allow users access to as many as 1,000 gaming titles from the day it goes live.

As of now the system can only play games available for PS Vita, PSP, and PlayStation One. Sony is preparing to launch a beta version of PlayStation Now on July 31 of this year. The streaming service will allow users access to game titles on the PS3. Better have your own controller though, because Sony’s new unit doesn’t come with one.
They are of course offering a neat little bundle that comes with one for a reasonable $139. In addition to a DualShock 3 controller, the bundle comes with a 8GB memory card and a digital copy of “The Lego Movie” video game.
All-in-all PlayStation TV will most likely prove to be a competitive product in the gaming industry. It will attracts those who don’t feel like shelling out several hundred dollars for the newest gaming consoles. And once PlayStation Now is up and running, it will be offering significant value at a very cheap price. As gamers know a single game runs $60 brand new. It seems that Sony is looking to shake things up.
