Two Canadian prisoners imprisoned in China for over 1,000 days hailed President Joseph Biden’s visit to parliament in Ottawa on Friday.
Justin Trudeau’s office stated the 2021 releases would attend Biden’s gala luncheon on Friday night.
As Canadian police detained Meng Wanzhou on a U.S. warrant, Chinese officials arrested Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig in December 2018.
She was freed when Meng returned to China.
China disputes that Canadian media’s “two Michaels” were unfairly imprisoned.
Their presence in Ottawa may indicate the U.S.-Canada-China agreement.
Both governments established Indo-Pacific China-fighting policies last year.
