Saturday’s Kremlin statement claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin called Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

The Kremlin said Erdogan thanked Putin for his “positive attitude” in extending the Black Sea grain deal and expressed his “understanding of the Russian side’s principled position to achieve the full implementation of the second part of the agreement, removing barriers for Russia’s agricultural products.”

On Monday, Putin set criteria for extending the Black Sea grain agreement and threatened to transfer free food to African nations if they were unsatisfied.

Putin and Ergodan “expressed pleasure with the favorable dynamics of trade and economic ties, the effective realization of cooperative strategic projects in the energy sector, including gas supplies and the building of the Akkuyu nuclear power station in Turkey,” the Kremlin stated.

It also mentioned normalizing Turkish-Syrian relations.
