Cyprus‘ military minister said Friday that its humanitarian help would include land mines clearance training for Ukraine.

On Friday, Cyprus-visiting Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov will tour training sites.

“We will host people who will de-mine and identify mines,” Cyprus Defence Minister Michalis Georgallas told Sigma TV.

Politis said 18 Ukrainian officers would train in Cyprus in the last week of April.

After a short Greek-inspired coup, Cyprus was partitioned by Turkey in 1974.

The two sides cleared minefields along a 180 km (116 miles) dividing line in Cyprus with UN help in the previous decade.
