On Wednesday, Merck (MRCG.DE) announced it would spend 300 million euros ($327.90 million) in Hometown, U.S.’s biggest integrated specialty gas facility.

The Pennsylvania deal promotes “growth of production capacity for the semiconductor sector,” it noted.

In a press release, the science and technology business stated it would invest “considerably more than 3 billion euros” in innovations and capacity expansions to boost its semiconductor solutions segment.
