On Tuesday, British energy market regulator Ofgem announced a tighter code of practice with energy suppliers for forced prepayment meter installation.
In February, Ofgem ordered all suppliers to cease forcing such meters into people’s homes and launched an immediate inquiry into British Gas, part of Centrica (CNA.L).
The new guidelines prohibit involuntary prepayment meter installation in houses with residents over 85 or extremely unwell.
