Apple will move essential iPad engineering resources to Vietnam- Nikkei. Apple is moving its iPad product development resources to Vietnam, according to a Friday Nikkei article that cited sources with knowledge of the situation.

According to the report, Apple is collaborating with BYD (002594. SZ), a key iPad assembler in China, to relocate new product introduction (NPI) resources to Vietnam. The report also stated that this is the first time the business has relocated NPI resources to Vietnam for a core item.

Approximately around the middle of February, engineering verification for the test production of an iPad model will begin, and the model is expected to be available in the second half of the following year, according to the statement.

Reuters has contacted Apple and BYD for comment, but neither company has responded quickly.

Earlier this year, Apple suppliers like Luxshare and Foxconn invested in Southeast Asian nations to further diversify their manufacturing away from China.
