The upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, has been postponed to 27 May 2026, two months later than its original 27 March release date.
This will mark the first Bond video game since 2012’s 007 Legends. Developer IO Interactive, known for the Hitman series, stated the game is “fully playable from beginning to end” but requires additional time to “further polish” the experience.
The game is being developed alongside Delphi Interactive, the studio behind the upcoming FIFA title set for Netflix release before the 2026 World Cup.
007 First Light stars Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a young James Bond in a reimagined origin story. Players will follow 26-year-old Bond as he joins MI6 and earns his 00 designation, in a story separate from the films and novels.
At the Game Awards 2025, IO Interactive revealed that the game’s main villain will be portrayed by Lenny Kravitz. Early gameplay trailers show influences from the Hitman franchise, along with iconic Bond gadgets and cinematic action sequences.
Some fans have raised concerns over visuals, pointing to frame rate drops and motion blur issues.
IO Interactive called the project its “most ambitious to date” and thanked fans for their patience. “We’re confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success,” the studio said.
