Business Insider claimed that Germany’s Defence Ministry intends to acquire 82 Airbus (AIR.PA) H-145M civilian helicopters to replace its Tiger combat fleet.

As Russia invaded Ukraine last year, Germany pledged 100 billion euros ($107 billion) to upgrade the Bundeswehr.

The German news agency said that Berlin plans to acquire 82 planes for 3.05 billion euros ($3.3 billion) and outfit 24 with anti-tank missiles.

The Defence Ministry was unreachable.

The report said the Bundeswehr worries about the H-145M helicopter’s combat readiness and crew protection, which the ministry has overlooked.

“A completely political choice that overlooks operational demands,” the Bundeswehr wrote to the Minister of Defence, according to Business Insider.
