Due to rocket debris, China’s maritime safety bureau barred boats from a zone north of Taiwan on Thursday.

Taiwan and other neighboring states feared China will enforce a similar no-fly zone on Sunday morning, impacting 33 flights.

South Korea, alerted of the preparations, said a satellite launch vehicle item caused the no-fly zone. China is silent.

China’s maritime safety authorities announced Thursday that Sunday’s East China Sea restrictions would continue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (0100 GMT to 0700 GMT).
