The European Commission has asked internet platforms Pornhub, Xvideos, and Stripchat what steps they take to protect minors and prevent the spread of unlawful content online.
By July 4, the corporations must provide thorough information on the steps they have taken to assess and reduce risks for children online, as well as prevent the spread of illegal content and gender-based violence, the Commission said on Thursday.
According to the Commission, among other things, “details on age assurance mechanisms adopted by these pornographic platforms” are required.
Last year, the European Union added the three adult content firms to its list of companies subject to strict new online content laws.
The Digital Services Act (DSA) requires enterprises to exchange data with authorities and academics, manage risk, and undergo external and independent auditing.
They also allow the Commission to levy fines for providing inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information in response to a request for information.
