Jeremiah Robinson founded Cionic company in 2018, and he is still the CEO, making huge steps in the world of entrepreneurship. His company focuses on using technology to find solutions in the health industry.

Jeremiah Robinson is skilled in product design, individual trials, and software development. Before Cionic, they had founded WAWOS, a nonprofit organization for providing capes to kids who had cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular days. Together with his wife, they used technology and designs to make a unique product. In addition, he talks about the edge of technology across all other industries worldwide.

The entrepreneur has always insisted on how difficult it is to set up a startup. Before you begin the journey, you might admire to be your boss, but immediately you commence it, you will realize nothing is easy. Jeremiah insists that people must always choose a journey where their passion lies.

Many ideas will pop up in your mind when you are in trouble. That logic of engineering will drive you towards finding the perfect solutions. For example, one of my daughters suffered severely from cerebral palsy. I started brainstorming on what I could do. I realized how smart people use technology to create self-driving cars or rockets but could not create medication solutions. That’s what drove me to start Cionic, using technology to change the health industry. Finally, we have confidence in touching people’s lives.

I was an employee before my entrepreneurship journey. In 2011, I worked with Slide, a social networking company, as a CTO. My role was to manage our physical servers within a small office. As the CTO, I wrote a request, asking for 500,000 dollars to obtain new servers for security purposes. It was awkward because I had to take the money and drive to the manufacturer to pick those physical servers. What if I got into an accident?. I am very thankful for the current cloud servers where we update everything with a single button click.

At Cionic, we use neural network technology to predict the movement in our bodies. We employ surface EMGs capable of measuring the body impulse from the brain to the muscles. The machine involves an argument with the brain until it finds the best solutions.

We have a programmable array that stimulates the body muscles to operate in normal conditions. It uses a fixed electrode system to stimulate static movement across the muscles. Those two technologies have always been at the top, predicting and analyzing diseases. As a result, we can improve the health status of individuals who have cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.

Disability is the inability of a person to perform certain normal tasks. With technology, we are confident that it can eliminate this gap. Furthermore, we are living in the so-called “information age.” Everyone is capable of reading or doing research on the internet freely. Therefore, I aim to normalize augmentation as a key factor in the Cionic company. In short, technology is a very powerful weapon that can change the world.

We tested our product in 2019 using my daughter Sophia. Together with my team, we set up the sensing stimulation to run through her body. I set up optimum music because that was the only tool that could make my daughter stay in a relaxed mood. We tested all parts of the body. We went through all her muscles using the stimulation parameters as she walked on the treadmill. As time went by, we applied moonshot stimulation in four major parts.

It was successful testing. I learned a lot of things, despite my shallow knowledge of medicine. In the process, we realized that my daughter had no crouch gait. After the test, she was confident, and her status had improved to 70%. We do many things, but the individuals get a bit better if everything works successfully.

At Cionic, we believe in solving major problems affecting society. We concentrate more on the major disorders affecting many people in certain geographic locations. Then we examine possible solutions. That’s the reason we mostly go for stroke patients. In addition to that, we are working to ensure we minimize the raw materials being used. We aim to lower the price to a certain level where everyone can afford it. I want to thank all the health units and clinics for offering their data free of charge. We work together with regulatory clearance to look for patients. Delivering our final product to users will take time, but we know it is worth it.

Currently, there is no room for marketing our company because we need to do more research before making such a step. We are still fetching data and investigating more severe conditions. I don’t want to go on air, calling upon people to come and receive poor service. We are taking our time to ensure everything is in order.

Having a family around can motivate a person to make a huge impact on society. My father and mother have been there for me. Both of them had good careers. I could sneak into my mother’s therapy clinic to learn some things on most occasions. She was treating patients with spinal cord injuries.

On the other hand, my dad was a computer nerd. So I wanted to test both careers and choose the best one as I grew up. They have had a positive impact on my life. I am using both of their knowledge to create solutions; that’s amazing.

Since I diagnosed my daughter, I have gotten a lot of opportunities. I have given back to as many families as possible, especially those with cerebral palsy. With the WAWOS project, we created walker caps for children free of charge. We also went ahead to fund recreation facilities for disabled children in our society. Such moments have been full of inspiration in my life. My main aim is to see all the kids suffering from cerebral palsy have recovered. After treatment, we offer them a cape to feel special.

For sure, there are many things I wish I had known before beginning my entrepreneurship journey.

  • You are identifying a field that you care about a lot. Building a startup from scratch is not a joke as people take it. There are a lot of bumps along the way. But if you believe in what you are doing, plus your passion, you are set to achieve a lot.
  • From the first day as an entrepreneur, learn to work with regulations. There is no need to set up a company that will fail due to tough rules. I know many companies that delayed regulations and had to close down. The FDA is a board formed to ensure any innovation arrives at its clients at the right time. Never escape registering with the board. Please have a good relationship with those boards, as they might save you at one point.
  • Surround yourself with individuals who have similar dreams. It’s true when a person says, show me your friends, and I will define you. I am a lucky man because I managed to drag people I worked with into my current projects. They are nice, and they believe in what I say. Having a board with a positive mind is helpful.
  • Get the right partner who can understand and support your dreams. When I met my love, I worked even during the night in our office. There were a lot of individuals who questioned her. “How can you date such a person?”. But I guess she understood what I was working on.

Every day I walk with the quote, “Stay humble, stay working.”Control your success and never let it fall on your head. If that happens, then you will lose your direction. You are doing that for the wrong purpose. But, on the other hand, if you stay calm, you can do many things only extraordinary people can achieve.

The future is bright with many tech solutions to come along with. I believe every cloth we wear shall have a technology tool that is assistive and intelligent. Let alone Siri. It will change how healthcare operates.

I believe in using my knowledge to solve problems across the world. It’s the best way to work with augmented humans. With Cionic, we are not trying to steal people’s data, but we are using it for their benefit.

We have many goals to achieve in the coming years. First, we will set up clinics in various states to distribute our service. Second, I want to see every disabled kid laugh and get the best treatment. Furthermore, we are working on three other projects to expand my company. It is a matter of time, and we will be on top of the world.
