Israel Stance: Netanyahu Pledges Resistance to US Sanctions

Vice President Kamala Harris took a harder stance than President Joe Biden and pushed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assist in negotiating a Gaza ceasefire that would alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians.
“It is time for this war to end,” Harris stated in a televised statement following her face-to-face interactions with Netanyahu.
Following Biden’s Sunday withdrawal from the race for president, Harris was forthright in her assessment of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, which has persisted for nine months due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas terrorists.
“We cannot allow ourselves to be numb to the suffering and I will not be silent,” stated the woman.
The serious and forceful tone of Harris’s comments made one wonder if, if elected president on November 5, she would take a harder line with Netanyahu. However, experts do not anticipate a significant change in U.S. policy towards Israel, which is Washington’s most important Middle Eastern partner.
According to Israeli counts, the fighting started on October 7 when militants from Hamas launched an onslaught on southern Israel from Gaza, killing 1,200 people and seizing more than 250 prisoners.
A humanitarian catastrophe has ensued as a result of Israel’s retaliatory bombardment on Gaza, which has killed over 39,000 people, devastated much of the coastal enclave, displaced people from their homes, caused starvation, and a shortage of emergency relief.
According to a White House readout of the discussion, Biden informed Netanyahu earlier that he needed to eliminate obstacles to the flow of aid and close gaps in order to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
