Indiana Jones Inspired Restaurant to Open in 2016

Walt Disney World Resort is opening a bar in the fall of 2015 that is themed after Indiana Jones.

More specifically, it’s themed after his frequent pilot, Jock Lindsey, who is known for flying Indiana Jone’s in the beginning of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. The name of the restaurant is “Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar” and will be located in Downtown Disney.

The bar will be located between Paradiso 37, a Taste of the Americas were restaurant goers can taste foods for North, Central, and South America. The other side of the restaurant is Boathouse restaurant, an antique boat themed restaurant with boats from up to 80 years ago.

This new eatery is aviation themed, and will seat 150 guests.

Concept art has been released by Disney which features high ceilings, a bar, and booth style seating with smaller tables in the middle of the restaurant, hanging lights scattered around the place, vintage flying posters and ceiling fans made of airplane propellers.

According to Disney Parks Blog, “In the main room, guests will discover an expansive bar, aviation décor filling the room, vintage travel posters covering the walls and correspondence between Jock, Indy and their fellow adventurers on display.”

Nearby the restaurant is Jock’s old steamboat parked on a nearby dock that’s named “Reggie” after Lindsey’s pet snake in the films. This will be part of the outdoor patio on the side of the building, and will allow guests to look out on Lake Buena Vista.

Crates, boats, and plane wings are scattered across the higher ceilings, hanging over patrons.

According to DisneyDining.com, the restaurant will have alcoholic drinks like “Hovito Mojito” and small dishes like “Air Pirates Everything Pretzels” and “Rolling Boulder Meatballs”.

This restaurant will be part of The Landing, as well as two other restaurants: Morimo Asia and STK steakhouse.

Since Disney’s recent acquiring of Lucasfilm in 2012, the resort has a lot of plans for Indiana Jones themed attractions, and has people speculating about seeing more Star Wars themed attractions in the parks.

This can already be seen in the Star Wars Weekends 2015 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Some of the things included are “Star Wars: Rebels” will be in theaters at the Theater of the Stars. As well as Rebel Hangar: A Star Wars Lounge Experience which are opened select dates until June 14, 2015.

According to Disney Parks Blog, you can “Swagger inside a starship hangar inspired by the greatest saga ever told to discover interstellar Star Wars Weekends treats you won’t find elsewhere.” Some of the foods include pork wingers, pulled chicken samplers and hummus with tortilla chips. This restaurant is one of the many changes that will be seen in the renovations of Downtown Disney that are expected to be completed by 2016. This expansion is part of the ongoing task of reinventing Downtown Disney into Disney Springs.

Some other changes being made to the downtown area are seven new retail stores including Zara, Lilly Pulitzer, UNIQLO, and L’Occitaine en Provence, and five dining spots such as Sprinkles, Tea Traders by Joffrey’s Tea and Edison.

According to Disney Parks Blog, “Disney Springs will have expanded more than 150 shopping, dining and entertainment venues, including four distinct, outdoor neighborhoods with high-quality, diverse mix of retailers – including premium, affordable luxury and fast fashion options – and sophisticated restaurants.”

If the restaurant isn’t enough to quench your thirst for all things Indiana Jones, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has Indian Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and show that features impressive stunts and special effects. Also in Adventureland at Disneyland Park, merchandise like hats, shirts, and mugs can be found with the distinct Indiana Jones silhouette.
