According to the Syrian defense ministry’s statement on Wednesday on Facebook, an Israeli airstrike on Syria’s Aleppo airport resulted in “material damage.”

Israeli military officials chose not to comment.

Since starting to help President Bashar al-Assad in the civil conflict in 2011, Israel has been conducting operations against sites in Syria that it has claimed to be related to Iran.

Israel launched “some missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, west of coastal city of Latakia, around 3:55 a.m.,” the ministry stated, in the third strike on Aleppo airport in six months.
