Stay Informed: Flights Affected by Iran’s Attack on Israel

The aftermath of Iran’s airstrikes has led to significant disruptions and cancellations for airline passengers traveling to Israel and neighboring countries. Several airlines have taken preventive measures, including suspending flights and rerouting journeys, in response to heightened security concerns and airspace closures.

EasyJet has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv until Sunday, 21 April. Wizz Air has temporarily halted flights to Tel Aviv on Sunday and Monday, with plans to resume journeys on Tuesday, 16 April. However, passengers should anticipate potential schedule changes and are advised to stay updated through airline communications.

Israel’s closure of its airspace on Saturday evening prompted airlines such as Lufthansa to suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv, Erbil, and Amman until Monday, with plans to resume operations on Tuesday. However, flights to Beirut and Tehran will remain suspended until 18 April.

KLM has canceled all flights to and from Tel Aviv until Tuesday, while other airlines are rerouting flights to avoid Iranian airspace, adding additional travel time for passengers. Qantas, for example, is altering its flight paths to avoid Iranian airspace.

Virgin Atlantic has ceased flights to Israel but aims to resume journeys in September. On the other hand, British Airways is monitoring the situation and plans to operate a flight to Tel Aviv on Monday. The airline recently resumed flights to Israel earlier this month, with a crew change in Larnaca, Cyprus, to avoid overnight stays in Tel Aviv.

Iberia Express and Finnair have also suspended flights to Tel Aviv. At the same time, Finnair has halted operations over Iranian airspace until further notice, rerouting flights from Doha over Egypt, resulting in minor delays.

Amid these disruptions, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has reiterated caution for airlines operating in Israeli and Iranian airspace, emphasizing the importance of monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Airlines are advised to remain vigilant and responsive to potential safety risks as the situation unfolds.
