Bing Howenstein is the founder of Backjoy, a company that manufactures flexible cushion seats that relieves back pain. He started his career as a film director. He was making daily films for various TV shows in Los Angeles. After graduation, he shot short films and wrote books in the media industry.

He spends much time crafting different stories. For almost ten years in the industry, Bing Howenstein had gathered full experience to tell his stories in different ways. So he decided to form Backjoy startup, a company that has made quality products worldwide. He invented adjustable seats and beds, which you can fix and sit according to your desires.

After working for a single year, his company was named among the 51 startups growing fast, yet he was the only employee. Bing Howenstein was determined with his company. He hired eight other passionate employees who shared the same dream with him. They helped many people relieve their itching back pain in almost 44 countries. The company aims at fixing stands, sits, moves, ad sleeps. They focus on creating innovative solutions to prevent back pain.

I grew up in a Lions fan’s place called Detroit in the US. Lehigh University was my home where I natured talent in scriptwriting. I got my bachelor’s degree in History and Communication, which was a light to many opportunities. I worked in the media industry to save enough capital for the next company.

Most of my time I spend in the movie business. I was a hardworking boy in my 20s until I got to the rank of a movie producer. But as time went by, I realized that was not what I wanted. So before hitting my thirties, I quit my job as a director.

I started chasing my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. And for sure, I have earned it. I started Backjoy company after seeing some of my close friends suffer from their backs. The company produces one of the best cushion seats in the world. We make a seat cushion that relieves back pain and improves your posture.

I felt good after completing the design of my first products. We tested together with my friends, and it worked some miracles. It was the beginning of my successes. Within the first six months, Backjoy grew its roots in many countries.

Failures are part of the entrepreneurial journey. We all experience problems. After forming my company, my partner was involved in a serious car accident. So I remained running the business alone.

I had less capital, and so I had to re-plan my things. During that time, I sold my investments and used the available credit cards to support my business. I decided to advertise my products on QBC TV, and the sales improved. So I moved to China to find the raw materials easily. For sure, it worked. I am one person who believes in following my first instinct.

If you want to work with an external company, interact with the board first. Many opportunities come along with the collaboration. Then, make sure you partner with people with experience and similar knowledge.

I am not a fan of reading books, but I can recommend entrepreneurs to watch The Profit, a movie by Marcus Lemonis. It emphasizes the Process, Product, and People.

I collaborated with Cros company in China, which transitioned my company into a global business. As a result, my company has had good seasons over the past five years. We now build other products apart from seats. Together with my board, we want to diversify our products and create all types of furniture.

When you form a company, make sure you recruit likable, trustworthy, and respectful people. If they are missing one of those factors, go back and look for other employees.

Building products from scratch might take some time. Be ready to experience some difficulties. But, when you work hard and smart, you will enjoy it in the end. To my younger Bing Howenstein, follow your passion. Then listen to adults and people who have been in the field for many years.

Currently, I am the CEO of Simtech company, where we deal with the marketing business. I was also the co-founder of Direct Consumer Acquisition, but I pulled out. There are more years to achieve great things.
