On Wednesday, Honda Motor Co (7267.T) announced a strategic partnership agreement with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) (2330. TW) to ensure a reliable semiconductor supply.

At a press conference, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe stated the carmaker would establish direct partnerships with chip makers to ensure a consistent chip supply.

“Honda will work closely together with Tier 1 suppliers and semiconductor makers and move forward with drastic steps,” Mibe added.

Chief operating officer Shinji Aoyama anticipates the tie-up with TSMC to start impacting the 2025 financial year.

Honda intended to launch four new EV cars in Japan by 2026.
