Russia claims Ukraine used drones to try to murder Putin. According to RIA, Russia accused Ukraine of drone-bombing the Kremlin overnight to kill President Vladimir Putin.
The Kremlin termed the event a “planned terrorist action” and promised reprisal, RIA said.
The Kremlin citadel’s defenses damaged two drones accused of attacking Putin’s house.
Putin and the Kremlin were unhurt.
“The Kremlin has assessed these actions as a planned terrorist act and an assassination attempt on the president on the eve of Victory Day, the May 9 Parade,” RIA said.
Putin was working normally.
“The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit,” it said.
After the event, Russian social media and the military news station Zvezda channel showed whitish smoke rising beyond the main Kremlin Palace in the walled citadel.
