U.S. President Donald Trump has received an international peace prize from FIFA, the first time the organization has given such an award. He was recognized for his efforts to promote peace around the world.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented the award during the 2026 World Cup draw on Friday in Washington, DC. Trump accepted a gold medal and a trophy, saying it was one of the greatest honors of his life. He has previously expressed interest in winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

Infantino, a strong supporter of Trump, said the U.S. president earned recognition for his efforts to mediate ceasefires in places like Gaza and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, although conflicts continue in those regions.

The World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament will start in June, feature 104 matches, and take place in 16 cities.
