The government said Tuesday that a top Hong Kong finance official would visit London in April for the first ministerial visit in three years.

After three years of COVID-19 limitations, the “Hello Hong Kong” campaign began attracting tourists and investment in March.

The secretary for financial services and the treasury, Christopher Hui, will promote Hong Kong’s financial services in Brussels and London from April 13-15 and 16-18, respectively.

According to the government, he will meet senior officials, financial and commercial elites from both nations, and European Commission officials.

It stated, “The newest information on Hong Kong’s financial services growth, including fintech and green finance.”

Britain battled with the former colony during its 2019 anti-government and pro-democratic marches.

According to Britain and other Western nations, Hong Kong’s 2020 national security law affected media and civil society.

Hong Kong and China deny it.

On July 1, 1997, Hong Kong returned to China under a “one nation, two systems” formula with broad autonomy and rights, including an independent court.

Due to enhanced security measures, Britain announced a five-year citizenship visa system for roughly 3 million immigrants in 2021.

    China criticized Hong Kong.
