Tuesday’s attack by Israeli forces supported by the air force on a village in the occupied West Bank resulted in hostilities that left at least six Palestinians dead, according to local media and medics.

After sending soldiers into Tulkarm to arrest suspected terrorists, the Israeli army and police claimed that they came under fire and killed three Palestinian gunmen in the subsequent conflict.

The army and police statement also claimed that an Israeli airstrike had hit a group of Palestinians who had fired and thrown a device at the group. Three people were murdered in an airstrike that was allegedly conducted by a drone, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

No information on Israeli casualties in the event was available. While Israel continues to wage war on Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, another region where Palestinians desire statehood, none of the deaths were immediately claimed by the armed groups that it has been targeting in the West Bank.

There are rising calls for a ceasefire in Gaza as anger over the violence has grown in the West Bank and many other Arab countries.

The complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian issue has once again come to light with the latest drone strike by Israel in the West Bank. It highlights the pressing need for positive communication, steps toward establishing peace, and a shared dedication to achieving a long-term solution that guarantees the security and welfare of both the Israeli and Palestinian people.
