Sunrise, a startup calendar app, raised $6 million from Balderton Capital and other investors to build a perfect calendar.
“We want to connect all your data, simplify communication and improve core calendar features,” co-founder and CEO Pierre Valade told TechCrunch.
The calendar app only works as an individual calendar, to which other people do not have access. However, there are times users need to cooperate as a team. The company will use the money to improve core features like this. The startup app’s goal is not that small, but it also plans to develop new features in the future to take over popular calendars, like Google Calendar or Outlook.
“We’ve been good when it comes to vision, brand and identity,” Valade said. “But now, we need to work on features that no one else is going to have. And we can add missing features before the end of the year.”
The app is also launching a platform review for third-party developers, and they said the app will be better as a platform.
“Our goal is to give developers access to simple and powerful ways to build apps with Sunrise,” Sunrise wrote on its blog. “We want them to create apps that reflect people’s diversity in how they work, what they like, where they live and what dreams they have.”
