On Wednesday, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said talks to extend a grain export arrangement from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports to 120 days would continue.
“We negotiated the first arrangement. Deal continuance matters. Instead of two months, we would keep in touch for 120 days “The defense ministry said Akar.
Akar said Ankara hoped the deal’s parties would assess and extend it.
On July 22, Russia and Ukraine joined the U.N.-backed Black Sea Grain Initiative in Turkey, decreasing global food costs.
While discussions proceeded, Russia proposed renewing the contract for 60 days, half the previous renewal, but Ukraine refused.
