Semiconductor stocks lead a market recovery after the Nasdaq 100 recorded its steepest weekly decline since the April 2025 tariff turmoil.
US stocks advanced on Monday as semiconductor shares rebounded and artificial intelligence infrastructure provider CoreWeave regained ground following a difficult period for technology stocks.
The Nasdaq 100 rose 1.2% as of 9:48 a.m. in New York, while the S&P 500 gained 0.6%. The recovery followed the Nasdaq 100’s worst weekly performance since the market turmoil triggered by tariffs in April 2025.
Chipmakers led the advance, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbing 2.9%. The move put the benchmark on track to end an eight-session losing streak, its longest in 18 years.
The rally extended beyond semiconductor manufacturers, with companies operating in data centers, cloud computing infrastructure and optical technology also posting gains. The broader advance highlighted renewed buying interest across businesses linked to the artificial intelligence industry.
CoreWeave, an important player in AI computing infrastructure, also rose after recent pressure on its shares. Its performance has attracted investor attention amid concerns surrounding the outlook for companies supplying the computing capacity required to support expanding AI workloads.
Monday’s gains offered some relief to technology investors after a difficult week for the sector. However, the rebound’s sustainability remained uncertain as market participants continued to assess the outlook for semiconductor companies and the broader AI investment trade.
