“A solid system of checks and balances” is why British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly applauded Israel’s judicial reform halt.
“The UK appreciates the decision today by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt measures to restructure Israel’s court,” Cleverly said after Netanyahu delayed the decision until next month amid huge protests.
“A rigorous system of checks and balances and the common democratic ideals that underlie that (UK-Israel) relationship must be safeguarded.”
