Shark Tank

Shark Tank is a big platform, and if you have a startup, it is always an awesome opportunity to get an invitation. They hold business meetups, and each episode in reality TV has four young entrepreneurs. Then, a panel of five millionaires and investors will sit on the other side to oppose or second your business. Funny enough, you may get an opportunity to great some billionaires within the panel, a report by invetopedia.

If you explain and convince the panel that your business is useful and can earn more profit, some of them will offer capital in exchange for some shares. As a result, many people have secured million-dollar bids. However, we have several entrepreneurs who receive much hate from the panel.

How I Secured Shark Tank Opportunity

Yes, I was invited to the Shark Tank because one of the panelists had heard about my business. I started my business in my small room in a rented apartment in 2013. My first customers were friends and family who motivated me to make more athlete tops. I launched the company alone without any employees. I held some fundraising and got $15000 to support my business. At this moment, I decided to quit my job.

Utilizing the available funds, I created online e-commerce that sells those athlete tops. Within the first day, I had made a revenue of over $10000. Lucky enough, Katie Couric gave me a platform to compete with other entrepreneurs, and I won the $10,000 reward. At Katie’s show, Shark Tank got to know more about my business strategy.

I have been a fan of Shark Tank since I was a teenage girl. I once heard that over 50,000 people apply for a single season, but only 100 qualify to the final filming zone. That means their algorithm chooses the best candidates from those applications. I was not afraid of sending my application because one of the panelists had emailed me about my business. I was ready to present my business at a popular ABC TV show within some weeks.

When the day came, I was more than ready. You must practice, gather confidence and motivate yourself. The cameras and the public can make you feel embarrassed in some ways. From my experience, I would say exposure can destroy or build your brand forever. Whenever you present your product, more pressure comes along with it.

Effect of Shark Tank on My Business

I was very afraid of the panel and the public. What if they demand a new product, yet I don’t have enough skill for that. I can say the whole presentation on Shark Tank also affected my business. It was tough. Being a solo employee now made it worst.

The effect of Shark Tank on various businesses comes in because over 10 million individuals worldwide watch the show. We are in the error of technology, and almost 60% of people possess a TV or smart gadget online. Many viewers are always curious to know what you are presenting. It’s not strange to get your social media number multiplied immediately after the Shark Tank show. Sometimes even your website might crash because of an increase in the number of users. I can confirm that there was a time I decided to buy smiley-faced cleaning utensils after the CEO had presented the product on Shark Tank.

So, after I had made my presentation successfully, there was an increase in web traffic. When we compared before and after shark Tank, the traffic was 10X higher. As we know, the higher the traffic, the increase in the number of sales. Currently, the baseline has reduced; it’s now 5X higher than before Shark Tank.

The next week after Shark Tank, my web technician had a rough time re-building my site. Even the marketing department faced a lot because we made over $2000 within the first 2 minutes. To be sincere, I was overwhelmed as I hug all the people who had been here during my struggles. So many people come to me with an interest in knowing the exact number of customers I have in a single day, but that’s secret. I should only be frank to a person who is willing to invest.

When there is more pressure, I will sit on the computer for almost a whole day. I do a lot of research to ensure my customers get a quality product. In any business, clients will keep you on your toes to develop a new product that has some improvement. That is additional pressure, and you must respond positively to get more referrals.

I warehouse almost 99% of my products in Shipwire. Their system has been incorporated with Shopify hence easy to navigate over to my e-commerce platform. Everything is automated and streamlined. I don’t do a lot of marketing, but Revfliuence has been my platform to get influencers on my company.

How Entrepreneurs Secure Investors

A sudden spike in the number of clients is the norm that has been there since the beginning of Shark Tank. Many individuals like Tracy Noonan collaborate with venture capitalists like Kevin O’Leary. If an investor offers you one million dollars as capital, that is enough to open some branches in different states. According to research, each person who emerges saves a marketing bonus of between $4 – $5 million.

The exposure drives thousands of people to apply for that opportunity. Only a small number of entrepreneurs apply to get bids, but the rest focus on marketing. A single episode makes you afford an audience you could not even get with your marketing skills. One producer, while filming, told me that young entrepreneurs who were after publicity didn’t make it in the business. In some ways, I agree, but on the other hand, I don’t see it this way. How can millions of viewers not be interested in your products? At least a small percentage will cherish you.

I once read about Garret Gee, who explained his reason for attending the Shark Tank. He said his mission was divided into halves, that is, 50/50, to wrap an investment deal or seek exposure. If one fails, then at least he has exposed his code-scanning mobile app to the rest of the multitude. Within some months, the mobile app was number 20 among the topmost paid mobile applications worldwide. Another good example of an entrepreneur who failed o secure an investment was Shawn Davis. But immediately after the show, his sales multiplied from $30,000 to $1 million.

The show must receive high appreciation. It has helped hundreds of businesses get massive customers. There are other rewards that you also get if you present your idea. For example, the CEO of Scrub Daddy got his name written as the most successful entrepreneur with a smart product. That’s is brand building. You save a lot from the marketing department. It makes you a celebrity within some hours.

I can be frank that the best part is receiving emails from various investors who want to hear more about your business. Some people have been able to reach me about new marketing skills. “Christina Conrad, we got this platform. Would you like to join us?” Such emails are always a blessing to me. Sometimes I get congratulatory messages for my products. This text makes me wear a legit smile thorough the day.

Future Plans

Currently, I have hired new people, like a customer service caretaker. It is necessary to consider your clients over anything else. Although I have handed over the jobs, I will peep in to see what customers say about the company.

To a younger Christine Conrad, the future might look tough, and for real, it is. But you have to put in more effort and build your business while still young. If you managed to secure an investor in your business, that is a plus.

I am currently focusing on opening more branches across the country. I want Boobypack to be a multi-million company within the next five years.
