AMC Theatres will accept two meme cryptocurrencies, dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), in the coming weeks, according to the CEO of the world’s largest movie exhibition company, AMC Entertainment.

In March, AMC Theatres will accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu payments

AMC Theatres will begin accepting payments in two popular meme cryptocurrencies, dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), in March, according to Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdings.

AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC), formerly known as AMC Theatres, is the world’s largest movie exhibition company. Around 950 theaters and 10,500 screens are owned or operated by the company around the world.

According to Aron, AMC’s IT department expects “Bitpay to be live for AMC online payments” by March 19, and “Bitpay will be live on the company’s mobile apps by April 16 or a few days earlier.”

Since putting up a Twitter poll about dogecoin in September last year and a poll about Shiba Inu the following month, the CEO has promised the crypto community that AMC Theatres will accept DOGE and SHIB payments.

Aron then claimed in November of last year that he had persuaded Bitpay, a cryptocurrency payment service, to support the Shiba Inu. He also stated that he would be Bitpay’s first customer to accept SHIB.

When Bitpay announced support for the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency in November, retail behemoth Newegg quickly began accepting SHIB as a form of payment.

Last year, Aron announced that AMC Theatres would accept four cryptocurrencies: bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC), and bitcoin cash (BCH) (BCH). Customers can only use their Paypal accounts to pay with these cryptocurrencies.
