Software as a Service (SaaS) is a way to license and serve software where you pay a monthly fee to use it, and it is hosted centrally. This kind of software is sometimes called “on-demand software,” and Microsoft used to call it “software plus services.” Web-based or web-hosted software is another name for SaaS apps.
