ISS advises investors to endorse the Barclays board. As investigations into former CEO Jes Staley’s ties to sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein continue, Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) has advised Barclays investors to re-elect all board members at its annual meeting in May.

In a Monday report, the influential proxy advisor stated that “questions may be posed” about the board’s judgment in backing Staley between 2019 and 2021. Still, evaluating the voting implications for director elections may be premature.

“Although it is accepted that the Board could only have acted based on information available to it at the time… given how recently events have unfolded, it may be sensible to defer any attempt at answering such questions until further news emerges from ongoing investigations,” said ISS.
