From first glance, one would guess that the new Motorola Hint is just a hopped-up hearing aid, but it’s not. It’s a Bluetooth headset, but it’s much more than that. Just about everything that you can do with the Moto 360 smart watch can be done with the Hint. The device uses your voice to connect with functions and applications on your phone. The Hint also responds to your inquiries, gives you turn-by-turn directions, enables you to send texts and emails, and posts to social media.
The Hint has the cool ability to sense when it’s in your ear and turn on. It will turn off when it leaves your ear, and even if you’re on a call, it’ll switch back to the phone to handle the call on the handset. It comes in six different finishes that includes burgundy, grey and a smooth wood finish. The portable charger hides the Hint inside when closed (a big plus, because the Hint is tiny) and gives off an ominous glow as it charges the Bluetooth device. Additionally, the portable charger is good for two full charges when you’re on the road.
The Motorola Hint gives you approximately three hours of talk time on one charge. It’s designed to pair with the Moto X and Moto G, but it will work with tons of other phones. It’s a low-key device, and a bystander wouldn’t notice it without a double-take. The release date is yet to be determined, but Motorola has locked in a price of $149.99.
