Apple’s updated operating system, iOS 8, is here, much to delight of iPhone and iPad owners (and some iPod Touch users)everywhere. iOS enables users to answer phone calls on a Mac and adds display info in the “Today” screen that includes sports scores and weather updates. iTunes purchases can be shared through iOS8 as well.
Apple Pay, Apple’s mobile payment system, will be available. The update will be accessible for owners of the iPhone 4S, 5, 5C and 5S. iPads are included, except for the first generation. Unfortunately, only owners of the latest iPod Touch can upgrade to iOS 8. Siri can be accessed and used completely hands-free.
The updated system has added new photo-editing tools, including auto-straightening, cropping and color correction. Photo edits will appear across all your Apple devices. A new feature has been added to the keyboard called Quicktype, which is more adaptive to the user’s speech patterns, Moreover, you can send audio clips and maps of your location to your friends. iCloud drive will enable users to browse, edit and share files across various Apple devices, much like Google Drive and Dropbox does.
Still, that’s not the end of the list of new features. A quick double-tap of the home button brings up recent contacts. Icons of their faces pop up at the top of the screen, and you simply tap their face to call or message them. HomeKit will come with iOS 8- a platform to control electronics in your home, in addition to a health app to track fitness goals.
