Sometimes, even in the midst of a tedious week, when one reads about someone else’s bad day, it usually makes us feel a bit better about our own. Once such unfortunate incident, of two people passing away by a train accident does make one feel grateful about having only mundane worries.
A train that was on its way to the Penn Station in New York on the morning of Thursday, July 9, accidentally hit a man and woman who were in the way. According to the officials, it seems unclear as to why the two people were that close to the tracks in the first place.
The only silver lining was that no one on board was left injured. The passengers were immediately shifted off to another train.
The accident took place near Hollis Train station at around 2:47am. After the accident, the Long Island Rail Road tweeted, “The LIRR is operating on or close to schedule. Earlier, there were delays and cancellations due to a police investigation near Hollis.”
The tweet was sent out at around 7:42am that very morning. As of now, there isn’t much news about the victims as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York is yet to comment about the whole incident.
