The usual concerns that consumers have about Heinz Tomato Ketchup is mostly that is has too much sugar or should contain more natural flavors and fewer artificial ingredients. But amongst regular suggestions and complaints like that, a rather odd one managed to make news.
A consumer apparently scanned the QR code at the back of the Heinz ketchup bottle and found that the code did not lead to any of the ketchup’s promotional website. But rather, the code led him to a porn site.
The man was actually just trying to enter a contest that was arranged by the ketchup company when he discovered the error. The man, Daniel Korell, was later given an apology by the ketchup company.
This error occurred probably because the campaign that Heinz ran went on from the years 2012 to 2014. After that, the QR code simply expired and was recycled to another website.
This website happened to be a German porn site. Korell said that this promotion “probably isn’t for minors” on his Facebook page. Heinz later replied by commenting,
“We really regret the event very much and we’re happy to take your suggestions for how we implement future campaigns on board.”
