DJing is a major aspect of the entertainment industry, and we here are finding ourselves thinking more and more about who the DJ at an upcoming event is before even knowing who is MCing, it is just that important. Starting off, we have the enigmatic DJ Diddy Official, who is 21-years-old and was born in the Bronx, by way of Galloway, New Jersey. Those of you in the North East might already be familiar with DJ Diddy Official as he was a titan of the house party scene before finding his way in the festival and event circuit.
Born Anwar Gavilanes, DJ Diddy Official officially began DJing himself in 2014, after being a lifelong fan of Hip Hop DJs and cultivating a fierce desire to become a world-renowned DJ. Things took a life-changing turn for Gavilanes when he headlined his first show in 2015 at Club Karma, and then was asked to perform at the Life in Color and HyperGlow events, which led to a few gigs he “could never have dreamed of” prior, eventually leading him to become one of the youngest but still highly respected DJs on the national scene.
After a humble start of cutting his teeth on house parties and college parties during his time at Kean University, DJ Diddy Official has dreams far beyond just the national scene: his current world tour, the expressively named “Do You Get Ass” International Tour, has already taken the young DJ to Tel Aviv, Israel, and has upcoming dates in Germany, Lebanon and Paris.
For DJs looking to get into the field, DJ Diddy Official has just one piece of advice: keep up on time management. Start early, get your stuff done, get it right, give it time to breathe and get it out there. The music industry is absolutely a survival of the fittest scenario, and a DJ needs every tool to survive and thrive.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that DJ Diddy Official is an early riser—a fact that he is very proud of, oftentimes working on his craft from sunrise to beyond sunset. This drive for success has attracted mainstream attention and has led to DJ Diddy Official touring and performing with major Hip Hop artists like 6ix9ine, PnB Rock, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Juice WRLD.
